Andrew Bamji is a retired rheumatologist.  He left the NHS at 60, depressed by its slide into bureaucracy and the triumph of money over patients.  He was President of the British Society for Rheumatology from 2006-8 and retains an interest in medicine and surgery of the Great War, about which he is writing a book.  he is currently Gillies Archivist to the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons.
